We are proud to introduce the inaugural recipients of the Porter McNeil Public Service Foundation Scholarship. These five outstanding students were selected for their commitment to service, their passion for their communities, and their vision for the future.
Charli Moore is heading to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to study biology on a pre-dental track. Charli volunteers teaching young children to read and serves meals through her church's program for underprivileged children locally and abroad.
Naga Kasam is heading to the University of Illinois Chicago to study Engineering Physics and AI. Fluent in English, Hindi, and Telugu, Naga has logged over 500 volunteer hours translating wellness resources for communities who otherwise wouldn't have had access.
Aamira Beard is heading to Georgia State University to study Applied Linguistics on a path to becoming a speech pathologist. Aamira traveled to Honduras with HOPE Worldwide to serve children in local communities and returned with a deepened commitment to others.
Tristan Baxter is heading to Northern Illinois University to study political science with his sights set on becoming a lawyer. Tristan has served as a jury member for the Youth Service Bureau of Rock Island County's Peer Justice program, giving minors a second chance after a first offense.
Riana Daniels is heading to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with her sights set on becoming a physician assistant, with a particular interest in dermatology. Riana built a tutoring program from scratch to support struggling readers at Jane Addams Elementary.
